Abell 39

Abell 39, PK 47+42.1. 2020-07-17, Cherry Springs (elev. 700 m), SQM 21.6. 20-inch Newtonian (F/4). Ocular 13 mm. Fairly large, round, almost annular, nebulosity extends to the central star, edge well defined, second star embedded just inside the enhanced edge on the S side. Similarly faint star is immediately off the SE edge; a brighter star is close to the W edge. The edge is particularly enhanced on the SE side.

Abell 78

2020-07-15, Beaver Meadow Observatory, SQM 21.19. 20-inch Newtonian (F/5), 13-mm ocular, OIII filter. Abell planerary nebulae. Abell 78, Cyg. An annulus with a well-defined outer edge, slightly washed out to the SE and slightly fainter on the opposite side. Bright central star. Two faint stars close to the NE and NW, two brighter stars farther to the SW and ESE. PK 81-14.1

Abell 71

2020-07-15, Beaver Meadow Observatory, SQM 21.19. 20-inch Newtonian (F/5), 13-mm ocular, OIII filter. Abell planerary nebulae. Abell 71, Cyg. An annulus, star embedded in the void off-center to the NW. A close star pair immediately off NE edge, a wider pair of brighter stars immediately off SW edge. E side of the annulus is much brighter. Inner edge soft, outer edge well-defined. The annulus is almost interrupted on the NW side next to the interior star. The faint double between the brighter stars to the N is cleanly resolved. PK 85+4.1.
